My
good friend John Mack went to an agency
award dinner last month in New York and he
correctly states that "he was a stranger in a
strange land". However the one quote from
his BLOG that struck me
was "obviously, pharma spending on physician
marketing is alive and well and probably growing
while spending on DTC advertising is decreasing".
This is a primary example of just how clueless
pharma is of the changes taking place in today's

Yesterday I received
a call from a friend with whom I have worked with for
over 9 years saying that he had decided to resign
from his business and take a year or two off. He was
the owner of a digital interactive agency that
specialized in working with pharma and as I listened
to his rationale I heard the frustration of someone
who knew that pharma could do a hell of a lot more
online but was tired of the pharma matrix
