Byetta "Let's Talk" campaign: Event marketing at its best

According to an article in the Indy Star Lilly is getting ready to kick off a DTC campaign for Byetta, it's injectable treatment for type 2 diabetics. It's the perfect time to launch a DTC campaign as there are a lot of diabetics who are looking for alternative treatments for Avandia and Actos. However, one of the most innovative campaigns might be Byetta's "Let's Talk" program, a series of events in cities throughout the USA hosted by Delta Burke.



Outreach programs are great for patients. It allows pharma to come into direct contact with its target audience and answer questions about the latest treatments for a variety of diseases. For the "Let's Talk" program Delta Burke, who has Type 2 diabetes, will be at selected events and talk to people about how she treats her diabetes including the use of Byetta. A great idea...not only do people get a chance to potentially meet a celebrity but they also get a chance to talk with each other and ask questions about Byetta. In addition a Chef demonstrates recipes for diabetes and judging from the photos at a recent event it looks like they had good attendance.

Delta also has a diary on the site from the events that she attended. The site is very well done as are the events. Lilly should be recognized for this great effort to take the message to consumers where THEY are. Well done Byetta team !!!!
